Formats

The whole point of the Powerblader Tournament is to have special formats. The idea is to prioritize two things.

  1. We want to highlight lesser-known Beyblade types.
  2. We want to put special limits on OG Beys to bring out a blader’s creativity.

These are the formats we have currently (initially, we’ll start with just the Main Formats):

Main Formats

Full-Metal

Beyblades made entirely from alloys or metals.

Stadium: Custom Metal Stadium.

Midfakes

Midfakes only. No fakes. Midfake check will be done.

Stadium: BB10 or Summit.

Repro Free Choice

Any repro from anyone, including self-made Beyblades. Generation, weight tier, etc., don’t matter. Excellent for artists to display their work + showcase performance. Additional limits: The weight cannot go over 90g; Extremely sharp edges not allowed; Loose parts are not allowed.

Stadium: BB10 or Summit.

Stock Free Choice

A Beyblade made with any type of parts (original, full-metal, midfake, or repro) assembled in such a way that it reflects a “stock” version of a Beyblade.

Stadium: BB10 or Summit.

Weight Formats

MFB Over-50g

Original MFB Beyblades assembled with parts to have a total weight of 50g or higher, excluding Synchrome parts. This will force Bladers to focus almost entirely on 4D fusion wheels. The main struggle this will cause is making many good parts suddenly useless because they cannot help reach you 50g+. Only a handful of tracks and energy rings will be viable. How a Blader comes out on top in such a limited meta will be an interesting experiment every time.

Stadium: Beystadium Wide Type B-50.

Burst Under-50g

Original Burst Beyblades assembled with parts to have a total weight not exceeding 50g. This forces the Bladers to stick to comparatively weaker Burst parts and still manage to shine above the rest.

Stadium: Beystadium Wide Type B-50.

BeyX Under-40g

Original Beyblade X Beyblades assembled with parts to have a total weight not exceeding 40g. This will force battles to be mostly attack-vs-attack. This format can turn out to be one of the most explosive set of battles with the lack of stamina and defense combos.

Stadium: Standard BX-10.

Additional Formats

Illegal Combos Only

Any customization that is illegal (by official Beyblade tournament or WBO standards) or customized in a way that makes it overpowered in some way. All matches to be conducted in larger stadiums with walls. A check will be done to test every participant Beyblade in private to see if it poses any safety risk. Stadium:

Beystadium Wide Type B-50 with walls.

Customized Launchers

Beyblade from any generation and weight class is eligible, but it must be spun with a customized launcher of some kind. No unmodified original or midfake launcher allowed. Motors not allowed; modifications that can threaten the safety of players or bystanders not allowed; equipment that can irreparably damage stadiums not allowed.

Stadium: Beystadium Wide Type B-50 with walls.

Suzaku’s Triage

MFBs and Beyblade X combos are both allowed. No X-Dash rails will be available. Only those parts are allowed that have their “type” set as attack (see footnote). Only original, unmodified winder launchers are allowed (no string launchers).

Stadium: BB10 or Summit.

Genbu’s Resistance

MFBs and Beyblade X combos are both allowed. No X-Dash rails will be available. Only those parts are allowed that have their “type” set as defense or stamina (see footnote). Only original, unmodified string launchers are allowed (no winder launchers).

Stadium: Beystadium Wide Type B-50 with walls.

SZT & GBR

How is Attack, Defense, or Stamina “Type” Determined? Officially, Beyblades are categorized into types as a whole unit. But for competitive purposes, we will allow customizations or combos. Therefore, it becomes necessary to assign either A, D, or S “Type” to each part. The organization will maintain a list of all A, S, and D parts that players must refer to. In case of any contradiction, any player can raise a dispute. We’ll rely on competitive data to maintain our database.

Common Rules for All Formats

Here are rules that will apply to all formats:

  1. The final stadium will always be determined well in advance. For example, formats that say “BB10 or Summit” will clarify which one, exactly, will be there for players in that format. And apart from the stadium, each event will also announce its format, match structure, and ranked status before registration closes.
  2. Parts likely to have lead or cadmium are banned from all formats. This mainly includes fake and bootleg Beyblades.
  3. Inspection for total weight, sharp edges, breakage potential, stadium damage, etc. will be conducted for each Bey up to the discretion of the organizers and judges. Unsafe parts cannot be allowed.
  4. Bladers must submit their combos for any format in advance. Surprise parts/combos or last-minute changes are not allowed. Online submission will be done for all participants where they will be required to show the front, back, and side pictures of each part in their combo. The participant will only be allowed to play the same combo(s) in the tournament.
  5. Deliberate modifications to cheat the game (after submission) are not allowed and will be grounds for disqualification and no point will be awarded for participation.
  6. If a submitted part breaks during normal play, a Blader may request a judge-approved replacement with the same part or closest legal equivalent. The replacement must be inspected before use. Players are encouraged to carry spare parts where possible. If a replacement is needed, judges will decide whether the replacement is close enough to the submitted part to be allowed.
  7. Random checks can happen between rounds.
  8. RFC and ICO tournaments cannot have parts made of glass or ceramic. Adhesives are allowed. No part can have exposed screws, pins, blades, hooks, spikes, needles, etc. No magnetic or electronic part is allowed. No part may be deliberately designed to shatter, splinter, or cut.
  9. During the events, ties will be broken with the help of judge-approved rematches.
  10. In case of tied PS for invitation/leaderboard, total season wins in the format in question will be used to determine who passes.
